Sweet Apple PTA Volunteer Positions

Art Room   Assist in Kindergarten Art Class with art teacher
Bingo Night   Coordinate the games, prizes, food, promotion and fun for the event
Book Fair A one week event, guide & assist students, collect moneys, handout items, and restock. 
Carnival Many volunteers needed to work various areas and events! Must have LOTS of volunteers for this to be a success! 
Clerical   Photocopy teacher materials to provide teachers with more planning time
Computer/Technology   Assist classroom during computer lab time
Curriculum Days   Help at the Membership and Spirit Wear tables
Directory   Design, proofread, acquires data and data entry, label and help distribute.
Environmental Education   Parent Liaison for outdoor habitat/classroom. Create a fun Earth Week; promote environmental awareness.
Exceptional Children's Week   Volunteers needed to bring ability awareness to our students by assisting with activities planned by the Exceptional Children's Week Committee throughout the school year with a culminating celebration occuring during Exceptional Children's Week in March.
Fifth Grade Finale   Plan, coordinate and arrange for a memorable and fantastic last week for 5th graders.
Grandparent/Special Friend Day This event happens once a year. Need volunteers to help with snacks and drinks and with visitor check-in.
Happy, Healthy Kids   Research H&S issues, provide awareness to students and promote community information
Hospitality   Plan and setup refreshments for Sweet Apple events (staff appreciation, Linda Schultz’s meetings, LSAC)
Lunch Bunch   Book Club meets 3 times in the school year. Volunteers help serve lunch in 4th and 5th grade classrooms and clear up at the end.
Media Center   Check books in and out, re-shelve, aid students, and decorate reading centers.
Mystery Reader   Read to your child's class. This happens once a week. To sign up for reading dates and times contact the teacher.
Newsletter   Design and produce PTA newsletters
Outdoor Classroom   Volunteer to help with weeding and maintaining the outdoor classroom throughout the school year. Sign up for blocks of time in which you would be "in charge" of taking care of the area.
Photographer   Take, develop and organize classroom pictures to be used for the yearbook
Reading Buddy   Read one-on-one with children for 15-20 minutes... Requires one hour a week, as parent will be paired with students for the entire year or by semester
Rap-n-Snack   Lead classroom discussions during student's lunch hour on books chosen by Rap-n-Snack Chairs. Discussion questions, craft and materials are provided. Occurs 3x/year, you can volunteer for one or all of the meetings.
Reading Den   Monitor a small group of students while they read, read aloud to a small group of students (Reading Den is in the media center)
Red Ribbon Week (Drug Awareness)   Decorate halls and set up student material. Coordinate with school counselor (in October)
Reflections   Promote student entry in the “Reflections” event; collect and assist with organizing for display. Coordinate judging, recognition, tea and student rewards.
Room Parent   Act as classroom coordinator to parents for all volunteer needs in the classroom... Room Parents are responsible for maintaining all PTA communications as well as teacher communications to the parents via email... Room Parents also coordinate all classroom holiday/end of year parties...
School Pictures   Assist photographer, fill out paperwork, and assist with children (twice a year)
Science Lab   Volunteers in charge of leading a group of 4-6 students through the lab and helping them arrive at the correct conclusions based on their observations.  The labs will last between 45-90 minutes with about 20 minutes prep time.  A former science teacher will be leading the lab and will be available for help during the lab sessions.  The volunteers will be provided with the lab, lab answers, and information guides prior to the lab via email.
Special Events   Assist with set up, food service, supervision and clean up for Movie Nights, Bingo, Carnival, etc...
Staff Appreciation   Assist by coordinating lunch or donate one dish to feed 8-10 persons for your grade level
Spirit Wear   Promote school spirit, sell, order, distribute and staff table at various school functions
Top Chefs Sign up for Top Chef Lunchroom monitor volunteer spots
Vision & Hearing   Assist screening of 1st and 3rd grade students (once a year)
